Diego Aguilar Ramirez

Intermediate Research Fellow
Diego is an Intermediate Research Fellow in the Clinical Trial Service Unit and Epidemiological Studies Unit at Oxford Population Health. With a background in medicine and epidemiology, he uses observational and genetic epidemiology to investigate the determinants of cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic diseases in the Mexican population.
Within the Mexico City Prospective Study, Diego leads initiatives to strengthen research capacity in partnership with colleagues in Mexico. His broader interests include using prospective cohort data, biomarkers, and genetic data to understand disease risk and strengthen the evidence base for population health research across diverse populations.
Diego co-leads the Non-Communicable Diseases module in the MSc in Global Health Science and Epidemiology and contributes to public health teaching on Oxford’s undergraduate medical course. He supervises postgraduate research students in Oxford and Mexico and welcomes enquiries about collaboration and supervision in population health, epidemiology, and non-communicable diseases.
