Dr Chansamouth graduated from the University of Health Sciences, Vientiane, Laos in 2004 (General Medicine). After graduation, she continued her Master’s degree in Tropical Medicine and International Health in the Institut de la Francophonie pour la Medicine Tropical (IFMT) during 2005 and 2007.
Dr Chansamouth started her work with LOMWRU in 2007 after her MSc and became Lao government staff in 2009. Her main interest is in the epidemiology of fever in pregnant women and in rural Asian populations. She was greatly involved in the Non-Malaria Febrile illness project in Luangnamtha and Salavan Provincial Hospitals during 2008 and 2010.
Dr Chansamouth finished her second master degree in Epidemiology in the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), London, UK in 2012, through a Wellcome Trust Fellowship. She conducted the first large cohort study on the aetiology and impact of fever in pregnant women in Laos during 2013 and 2015 that she is analysing for publication. Dr Chansamouth is also interested in the epidemiology of antimicrobial resistance in Laos. She is now working on a situational analysis of AMR in Laos. Dr Chansamouth is also a coordinator of EFS project in 2017 and 2018.
