Annelies Gillesen
ERGO Clinical Research Nurse
Annelies qualified as an RGN the Netherlands in 1990 and worked as a Nurse on a 36 bedded ward. She moved to the UK in 1998 and worked as an Oncology Sister for a few years on a busy Oncology ward before taking a Research Sister role in UCLH from 2004 to 2017.
Annelies's first involvement with ERGO was when she volunteered as a study coordinator in the Ebola Rapide TKM Trial in Sierra Leone in 2015. She permanently joined ERGO in July 2017 as a clinical research nurse as part of the UK-PHRST. Her aim is to set up clinical trials and studies as part of the UK- PHRST for acute outbreaks in infectious diseases in ODA countries.
Since joining the group in 2017, Annelies has been involved in the setup of research projects in China, Madagascar and Sierra Leone. She also worked in Nigeria for Lassa Fever observational study, and also helped in DRC with the Ebola outbreak in 2018.
