Olivier Celhay
Statistics and Econometrics
MAEMOD
Olivier obtained his Master's degree in Statistics and Econometrics in France. Initially, he worked in telecommunications for a pharmaceutical company based in France. His responsibilities ranged from identifying the best statistical model for the prediction of molecule affinity to modelling annual variation in customers’ bills by profile clustering.
He moved to Laos in 2008, and became interested in the world of malaria in 2011. Working closely with the epidemiological team at the Lao Malaria Control Programme, he helped to improve the way malaria data is collected, aggregated, analysed, visualised and ultimately used to inform malaria policies.
Since then, he has supported malaria programmes across the Greater Mekong Subregion by building upon their existing systems to improve malaria surveillance and design innovative tools, often using R statistical software.
