Aminette D'Souza
PhD, MSc
Postdoctoral Researcher
Digital Biomarkers for Neurodegenerative Diseases
Research Interests: Cognitive Neuroscience, Neurodegeneration, Digital and Global Health
Before joining the NeuroMetrology lab at Oxford, Aminette completed her PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience at CUBRIC, Cardiff University, where she worked on the development of a novel digital cognitive app (MiND) for the assessment of ageing and dementia (Advisors: Prof. Andrew Lawrence, Prof. Kim Graham, Prof. Suvarna Alladi). She collaborated with the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences in India to validate this tool across cultural populations. Prior to this, Aminette pursued an MSc in Human Cognitive Neuropsychology at the University of Edinburgh, where she investigated cross-linguistic effects on spatial and social cognition (Advisors: Dr. Thomas Bak, Dr. Mariana Vega-Mendoza). Aminette has also held a role as an Innovation Fellow at Zinc Venture Capital, London (jointly funded by Vivensa Foundation), and supported commercial R&D at age- and health-tech start-ups.
As part of the Oxford Quantification in Parkinsonism study (OxQUIP; PI: Prof. Chrystalina Antoniades), her research focuses on i) the development of digital cognitive biomarkers for disease diagnosis and longitudinal monitoring of disease progression, and ii) the integration of cognitive and gait biomarkers for Parkinsonian syndromes.
