Vaccines are efficacious cost-effective healthcare measures and a global mainstay in protecting millions from infectious disease. We are particularly interested in delineating the immune response post vaccination and also post natural infection to help develop effective vaccines and also define correlates of protection. The establishment of protective immune responses following vaccination and the formation of adaptive immune memory are crucial for ensuring long-lived immunity toward infectious disease.
The Lambe group is currently developing and testing vaccines against a number of outbreak pathogens including Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever virus, Lassa virus, Nipah virus, Influenza, Ebolavirus and coronaviruses. A number of these vaccines have progressed to clinical trials, including the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 against SARS-CoV-2 COVID-19 Vaccine Trials UK.
