The WISE Lifetime Achievement Award celebrates the achievements of a woman who has had a truly outstanding career in science, technology, engineering or mathematics and has inspired and supported other women to follow in her footsteps.
Kay Davies commented upon receiving this award:
"I feel very honoured to receive this WISE award, particularly for doing the things I most enjoy doing. Genetics has been particularly exciting over the past 30 years as we have move from diagnosis of disease to developing treatments. I have been very fortunate to work with so many talented scientists and to watch so many of my students and postdocs move onto very successful careers of their own in many walks of life. They are evidence that the skills obtained through scientific training opens the door to so many different opportunities and it is a pleasure to mentor the ever increasing numbers of women in science."
Kay Davies was interviewed and filmed by WORLDbytes volunteers for the WISE (Women in Science Technology & Engineering) 2014 Awards night. The short video was screened to an audience of over 500 including HRH the Princess Royal who presented the trophies.
