Professor Susanna Dunachie has been appointed to the new role of Director of the NDM Centre for Global Health Research

Susie Dunachie

Professor Susanna Dunachie is an immunologist, NIHR Global Research Professor and Honorary NHS consultant in Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, who has worked in MORU and more recently at the Peter Medawar Building in Oxford.

Her research is wide-ranging across several global health challenges, including human susceptibility to diseases such as melioidosis and tuberculosis, the emerging worldwide influence of diabetes on disease susceptibility, and antimicrobial resistance, where she leads a vaccine development programme. Susie made several distinguished contributions to the UK’s response to COVID19, including jointly leading the UK PITCH-Study into the correlates of protective immunity in health care workers.

Susie’s vision is to bridge the gaps between the NDM Centre for Global Health Research, the Africa and Asia Programmes and our other units in Oxford. This will accelerate a wide range of programmes across the university.
